Diff checker

Paste two versions of a text to see which lines were added, removed or changed.

How it works

The two texts are split into lines and compared with the longest common subsequence algorithm (the method behind diff). For a removed line directly followed by an added one, the words are compared the same way to highlight what changed inside the line.

Frequently asked questions

How does the comparison work?

Line by line, with the longest common subsequence: lines that are in both texts are kept, the rest are shown as removed (red, −) or added (green, +). Changed lines appear as one removed and one added line, with the changed words highlighted.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Both texts are compared in your browser and are not put into the page link.

Can I ignore spaces or letter case?

Yes. Tick the options to treat lines as equal when they only differ in whitespace or in upper and lower case.
