Savings goal calculator
Enter your goal, what you already have and when you need it to see how much to save each month.
How it works
payment = (goal − have × (1+r)^n) × r ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1)with r the monthly rate and n the number of months; deposits are made at the end of each month.
Frequently asked questions
How big should an emergency fund be?
A common rule is three to six months of essential expenses, kept in an account you can reach quickly.
Does interest make a big difference?
For goals a year or two away, not much; most of the money is what you put in. Over 10 years or more, interest can add a large share, which is why starting early helps.
Is inflation included?
No. If your goal is the price of something in the future, raise it by the expected inflation first (see the inflation calculator).
