Date difference calculator
Pick two dates to count the days, weeks, months and years between them, and the weekdays in the period.
How it works
Both dates are taken as calendar days in UTC, so daylight saving changes do not add or lose an hour. The day count is the number of midnights between them (plus one with the end date included). Weeks are days ÷ 7; the months-and-days breakdown steps through whole calendar months first.
Worked example
From 1 March 2026 to 15 April 2026:
- March has 31 days: 30 left after the 1st
- 30 + 15 = 45 days
- 1 month and 14 days, 32 weekdays
Frequently asked questions
Is the end date counted?
By default no: from Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. Tick “include the end date” to count both days, as you would for a hotel stay or a rental period counted in calendar days.
How are weekdays counted?
Monday to Friday between the two dates, with the same end-date rule. Public holidays are not taken out because they differ by country.
Why can months differ in length?
Months have 28 to 31 days, so “1 month” from 31 January lands on the last day of February. The breakdown counts whole calendar months first and then the remaining days.
